The Gingerbread Artist is coming to ISAC!

Earlier this year, Chef Nicholas had the honor of attending and teaching at CookieCon! He had the pleasure of meeting Tunde Dugantsi, also known as the Gingerbread Artist! She was born and raised in Hungary, and she moved to the USA in 2004. Tunde’s cookie designs are a blend of traditional Hungarian designs with new and modern techniques! Tunde has never formally studied any type of arts and crafts, and has only been creating cookies since 2013. In that time Tunde has authored seven books, created many tutorial videos, and writes a blog! Chef Nicholas was so impressed with her cookies and their designs that he invited her to be one of our guest instructors at our Grand Holiday Open House, and to teach two classes after our open house!

Tunde will dazzle our Grand Holiday Open House guests by demonstrating how fast and easy it can be to make impressive gingerbread Christmas decorations, including a gingerbread candle holder!

On Sunday afternoon, after the final Open House session on November 12, Tunde will be teaching her festive Winter Landscape Design class. The students in this class will create a magical and inviting winter scene on gingerbread cookies. The level of detail on these cookies are mind-blowing. I love how the little buildings are so intricate. These are the perfect cookies for holiday gatherings and gifts for friends, co-workers, teachers, and family! No matter who you create these cookies for, they are sure to be beyond impressed!

On Monday, November 13, Tunde is offering her Lace Design class. In this full-day class, Tunde will spend the morning teaching students the most traditional lace designs, as well as her methods and techniques. In the afternoon, students will take all the instructions Tunde gave in the morning to create their own lace designs! I love the designs on these cookies. They are so elegant and beautiful!

Both of these classes will include Tunde’s corresponding textbooks: Cookie Academy 2: Winter Landscape and Cookie Academy 1: Lace Designs. All tools necessary to complete the project will be provided for students to use. The class on Sunday, Winter Landscape Designs, is a half day class from 1:30pm-5:30pm; lunch will NOT be provided. On Monday, Tunde’s Lace Design class is a full day, from 9:30am-5:3-pm; lunch will be provided.

Students have already begun signing up for both of Tunde’s classes and our Grand Holiday Open House. The classes are five months away! These WILL sell out, don’t miss your chance to sign up for these two fabulous classes. Tunde is a rising star in the cookie world, and has a huge following! This is an amazing opportunity to expand your cookie decorating skills!

ISAC 25th Anniversary Fun Fact: In 2003 ISAC’s first Grand Holiday Open House is held. (On a Thursday afternoon!) Due to an over whelming response and attendance, this yearly event was quickly changed to a Saturday the following year!

Sweetly yours,

Stephanie
