Spring Open House is coming!

In less than two months ISAC will host our 2018 Spring Open House on March 10, 2018. This year we will have two guest instructors that we know will be crowd pleasers: Chef Joseph Cumm and Chef Sachiko Windbiel! As many of you know, Chef Joseph is a frequent guest instructor in our Studio B. Just this past December he taught several French Macaron classes; we started with one, and it sold out so quickly that we ended up adding additional classes! Earlier in 2017, Chef Joseph had taught a chocolate bonbon class and a chocolate showpiece class! All of his classes were very popular, so it was only fitting to invite Chef Joseph to be a part of our Spring Open House this year.

Chef Sachiko is a Renshaw Brand Associate Partner, or as Chef Nicholas likes to say, “BAP.” Chef Nicholas has worked with Chef Sachiko quite a bit in recent years due to their Renshaw Americas association. Sachiko is also the designer of the Chef Nicholas Lodge page picture! She has not taught at here in our school with us yet, but we are all huge fans of her work. Yesterday, we received her demo project and the plans for her classes after the Open House… wow! You are all going to be amazed!

So, let’s discuss what our fabulous guest instructors will be sharing in their demo classes! Chef Joseph is known for his chocolate work, so it should come as no surprise that he will be showing our Open House guests how to create a show stopping chocolate flower! This flower is gorgeous and much different from the more traditional gumpate or wafer paper flowers. This stunning flower is sure to impress all your chocolate love friends, family, and clients! Chef Joseph will be offering a full day class the day after our Spring Open House (March 11, 2018). This class, Basic Chocolate Techniques and Mirror Glaze, is designed to introduce you to basic chocolate techniques such as learning to temper chocolate, making chocolate decor, and mini structures. You will also learn how to make and apply mirror glazes to different cakes and mini desserts.

Chef Sachiko will be bringing all the cuteness you can handle to her demos and classes this spring! For her demo at our Spring Open House, Chef Sachiko will be making an adorable Easter Baby figure! This cutie is wearing a bunny costume and hangs out with his little ducky friends! I know our guests will just fall in love with Chef Sachiko’s little Easter Baby. If you are dying to learn how to make figures, then you just hit the jackpot! Chef Sachiko will be teaching THREE classes after our Spring Open House event!

How cute is this baby bunny?!

First up, on March 11, is the Fairy Girl class. In this hands-on class, Sachiko will lead you in instruction from the figure’s structure through each detail of this enchanting figure, including her ruffled fairy skirt, flowing curly hair and of course her strikingly life like facial features. On March 12, join Sachiko for her Cute Wedding Couple class! This sweet young couple is excited…and maybe a little nervous for their big day! With this simple style topper, Sachiko will show you how easy it is to create this enchanting couple. They are smaller in scale and their faces are very much a cuter, caricature type style. You can reimagine this couple in any arrangement that best suits your occasion! Finally, on March 13, Sachiko will be teacher her Springtime Floral Dress Girl class! spring is coming and this little girl and her bunny are ready! Sachiko is excited to share with you her fondant secrets in making this cute-as-a-button fondant figure.  The style of this figure is in a simpler, caricature style and her charm is undeniable.  Any animal can be substituted for the bunny if you prefer.  You can decide and arrange her hairstyle and dress design however you like! All the skills you learn in these classes can be applied to your future fondant creations, and all of Sachiko’s classes are open to ALL skill levels from Beginner to Professional! Yay!

Finally, before I say goodbye, I’d like to chat with our friends in and around Houston, Texas. Chef Nicholas is headed to you March 3 and 4, 2018! After the Austin Cake Show, he will be heading to Houston to teach his two-day Springtime in Texas gumpaste flower class! This class boasts six different flowers: Bearded Iris, Cherry Blossom, Dogwood, Forsythia, Longiflorum Lily, and Parrot Tulip. This class is already on sale, and seats are selling. If you are in or near the Houston area, do not miss your chance to take this fantastic class with Chef Nicholas Lodge!

We hope to see you at our Spring Open House event and some of the classes after, taught by Chefs Joseph and Sachiko! It’s going to be a great weekend!

Sweetly yours,

Stephanie
