Nicholas Lodge’s Gumpaste- Even Easier!

Way back in July I wrote a blog sharing Chef Nicholas’ world famous recipe for Tylose Gumpaste (you can read that post by clicking here).  That particular post got an enormous amount of positive feedback across social media! Well, what if I told you I had great news about Chef Nicholas’s gumpaste, especially for those that don’t want to make it themselves?  Hold on to your hats: you can now BUY premade Nicholas Lodge gumpaste

That’s right! If you love Chef Nicholas’ gumpaste, but hate making your own batches, your prayers have been answered! Chef Nicholas’ has created a commercial gumpaste that is available in two sizes, 2lbs and 6oz! I know that 6oz may sound small, but it’s the perfect size for when you just need a small amount of gumpaste to finish a cake- no need to make a whole big batch!

Full disclaimer- this is NOT a scratch made recipe, but Chef Nicholas has very worked hard to ensure that this commercial gumpaste is of the same quality as his scratch made gumpaste. I’ve used it several times, and to say that I’m quite pleased would be an understatement. I have a toddler, so making gumpaste from scratch is usually out of the question; this makes life a billion times easier. The NL gumpaste is also pretty amazing for those who do not have easy access to Tylose powder. If you are a die-hard maker of everything from scratch, give our new gumpaste a try! Hey, sometimes a mix between scratch and commercial gumpaste is necessary in cake decorating projects!

You already know I’m a fan of this gumpaste. For me, it’s timing. Being able to quickly grab a quality commercial gumpaste is a must for me right now. Ease and convenience are the winner factors for me. For those of you who have already tried the Nicholas Lodge Gumpaste, what do you like about it compared to making your own? Share you reasons here with our other readers! What are your favorite projects using only scratch gumpaste, or only commercial, or a mix of both! Let’s get some creativity flowing here!

Oh, and one more tiny thing. Our 2015 class schedule has been released! You can find it by clicking here. Right now classes through July have been posted. The second half of 2015 classes should be posted soon after Chef Lodge returns from the French Pastry School!

Sweetly yours,

Stephanie
